Why not use companies that use templates for translations

There are some companies that use templates to provide certified translations of personal, short documents, for Immigration. Some attorney offices also use that practice.

There are some good reasons why you should not use such translations. In fact, you should ask "low cost" translation providers on the internet whether they provide translations on templates, or whether they do it from scratch, like we do at Legal Translation Systems.

In the best case scenario, the company might have templates for each specific country, and simply fill in the blanks. That would work, except that even different countries use different types of forms, so there is no guarantee their template will match the form use, and there might be missing information.

A lot of the people that fill in these templates are not professional translators, in fact, they are unlikely to even know the languages in question, and might be following instructions on a form.

It occurs, though, that many documents have remarks that are not general, and any inaccuracy between the translation and the original document might result in its rejection by U.S. Immigration (DHS), resulting in a lot of aggravation, delays and additional costs.

In the worst case scenario, the company might have one template for all languages. This creates further complications, for it is likely that a lot of information will be missing on the actual document, almost surely resulting in rejection of the document.

Delivery of translations via pdf

A lot of institutions, governmental and administrative agencies are now accepting certified notarized translations of documents prepared by Legal Translation Systems by pdf, rather than the paper document. Our PDF delivered translations contain notarized, numbered affidavits of accuracy that can be verified on the internet (protecting your identity), as well as seal, and signature of an ATA member translator with over 20 years of experience in the translation of foreign documents. Each document is saved in a separate PDF document. The first page is always the affidavit of accuracy, followed by the actual translation page. This also applies to translations used in other countries, such as Canada, Australia, UK, Switzerland, Finland, etc. which normally accept our translations. This also involves savings for the client, as well as the possibility of using the same translation in multiple institutions. Therefore, check where you are submitting the document, whether they accept PDF documents. At the present time we are studying additional technology to ensure the security of our translations, thus protecting your investment. Any questions info@legaltranslationsystems.com
